Cultivating Staff Resilience for Law Enforcement

Cert. # 4561-057132

Here is an article on reducing stress and burnout (and suicide) among corrections officers

This course is appropriate for Law Enforcement Personnel. This includes: Corrections Officers in jail settings, State and Federal Prisons, Police Officers, Sheriff’s Deputies and other sworn and non-sworn Sheriff’s Department personnel.

Working in law enforcement has specific challenges not found with other types of careers. Men and women are trained as law enforcement personnel to look at individuals skeptically, and beyond that, to be at the ready to respond, if need be, with force. This type of environment can exact a toll on officers over time, especially if an officer can’t turn it off at the end of the day.

In their personal lives, officers often have a hard time adjusting and focusing the proper amount of attention on their families and problems can ensue from that. Officers sometimes choose unhealthy outlets for their frustration after work as well. Unchecked, all of these can have a negative impact on health and even longevity.

This course looks at the break down in psychological and emotional health that can occur over time.

This course teaches officers how to cultivate resilience within themselves and thrive at work and at home. Officers will learn strategies for cultivating resilience while working in a career that is at once physically and emotionally challenging and rewarding.

These strategies translate into a better attitude, both at work and at home, better physical, mental and emotional health and a greater sense of satisfaction and well-being.
